For 25 years, Public Allies has provided leadership and career opportunities for 5,500 diverse women from under-represented communities. The organization has conducted evaluations examining participants’ skills development. It now has the opportunity to help the field understand more deeply what low-income, disconnected young women need to assume leadership roles and engage more deeply in their communities and civil society.
The Foundation supports the strengthening and expansion of Public Allies’ programs designed to foster the success of women, particularly young mothers, through formalized alumnae mentorship, college success and financial assistance should they elect to pursue higher education, as well as professional development for their frontline staff. They also engage in evaluation to assess their programs and share best practices with other organizations engaged in similar work.
