The “Voix EssentiELLES” Fund will provide small grants and capacity building support to women and girls’ grassroots associations and leaders to enable them to participate in and inform health programs and policies in their countries. As empowered agents of change, they will drive and sustain equal access to health and well-being in the region. Building on a successful engagement fund model piloted in Southern and Eastern Africa, it aims to reach around 20 community based organisations per target country benefitting a wide network or community actors and organisations.
With support from Fondation CHANEL, the Global Fund will support the set up of an operational model and structure that will manage and disburse funds to grassroots organisations and networks and will deliver a capacity building and leadership development program targeting these organisations and women and girl leaders.
The Global Fund was founded in 2002, and is a partnership designed to accelerate the end of AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria as epidemics. As an international organisation, the Global Fund mobilises and invests more than US$4 billion a year to support programs run by local experts in more than 100 countries. In partnership with governments, civil society, technical agencies, the private sector and people affected by the diseases, it is challenging barriers and embracing innovation. To date, the Global Fund partnership has saved more than 38 million lives.
