Social and professional integration of young girls through sport, culture and discovery of the business world

The project

To promote the presence of girls in sports, Sport dans la Ville has implemented the program “L Dans la Ville” that accompanies girls in their personal development and their employability. After strong growth in the Rhone Alpes region, the association has expanded in the Ile de France region in 2012 with the opening of several project sites in Seine-Saint-Denis, Val d’Oise and Paris.

Fondation CHANEL supported the implementation of the project “L ┬áDans la Ville” in the Ile-de-France region. Girls from disadvantaged neighborhoods developed their academic, social and professional skills through sports, cultural trips and company visits. A mentoring program involving 13 Chanel employees helped as many girls to develop specific professional skills. The company also held a number of workshops for the girls to discover different careers in business, science, and the arts.

Founded in 1998 in Lyon, Sport dans la Ville is the leading association for integration through sports in France. It offers social support, coaching and professional development that meets the challenges of inner-city youth.
