Growing Latina Women’s Leadership in the East Bay Region of California

The project

Mujeres Unidas y Activas seeks to reach more low-income immigrant women in the East Bay region of California. The organization aims to strengthen their members’ emotional resilience, vocational skills, awareness of their rights, and leadership capacity through culturally-responsive community outreach, drop-in support groups, peer counseling, vocational training programs, and leadership and policy advocacy opportunities.

Fondation CHANEL will support Mujeres Unidas y Activas as they expand their services in the East Bay region of California, increase the reach of their holistic programming, and provide services to very isolated immigrant women such as those who exclusively speak the Mam language of Central America.

The partner

Mujeres Unidas y Activas is a grassroots organization led by and for Latina immigrant women with a dual mission of promoting personal transformation and building community power for social and economic justice.
