The isolation (geographic, social, cultural and/or economic) of people ‒ and especially women ‒ living in vulnerable neighborhoods can cause them to withdraw into themselves and their community, lose self-esteem, and feel scared and isolated. In addition, women often deal with a lack of social and cultural recognition, combined with other forms of discrimination (financial, ethnic, etc.).
This initiative provides a series of complementary artistic, cultural and civic activities, which aim to enhance the ability of women in disadvantaged neighborhoods to express themselves and have an impact. Some of the actions designed to boost self-esteem and self-confidenceinclude: creating a civic opera, establishing textile and design workshops, and holding discussions and events.
With support from FONDATION CHANEL, CCO will be able to increase the number of workshops and activities it implements, to expand its support to beneficiaries, and ensure the continuity of the project over several years.
- At least 70 women introduced to artistic techniques
- 80% of the women participate in performing arts by appearing as actresses in public presentations
- Raise awareness of the general public about the issues facing disadvantaged neighborhoods
The CCO is a laboratory for social and cultural innovation that has been rooted in the greater Lyons area for over 50 years. It sees itself as an incubator for group initiatives and exchanges that foster intercultural dialogue.
